The drywall is going up and the innards are, for the most part, no longer exposed! It’s actually starting to look like something:

The broken arch detail is a common thread running throughout the main floor. This is a nice change from the higgledy-piggledy elevations and cluttered trim that was a bit distracting before:

A little preview of the fireplaces:

Hopefully, you realize the above are the “before” pics.
Remember all my bragging about the bargains I was finding? Well, I accidentally decided to blow my wad on the fireplace tile, stupidly thinking, “there’s so little space, go big or go home!” Well, my friends, the funny thing about square footage is that, it adds up, no matter how diminutive the space may initially appear.
I almost hesitate to put these images up, because the pictures really don’t do these mosaic tiles justice, but here’s what I’ve picked:

Sonoma Tilemaker’s Vihara Series Tile in Metta Silk

Jeffrey Court’s Mosaic Crushed Mood Glass in Karma
Let me emphasize again, these pics look like poo. The tiles are beeyootiful in person, so stay tuned.
I’ve used tile from the Vihara series before in this downtown Asheville Condo kitchen.

This is the big money tile…well, they’re both big money tile, but this is the bigger money tile, so I’m putting it in the living and dining room. The co-star big money tile is going in the bedroom fireplaces.
I will readily admit, I love the Vihara tile. In this application, I’m using the matte or silk finish as opposed to the shiny finish I used in the kitchen above. I’m so excited about seeing it on the fireplaces, although I might reapply the bumper sticker.
