Time to kick this blog into high gear and give away some stuff! What better way to promote your business than by promoting someone else’s too!
One of my BFF’s Sumner has a fabulous business called Spotted Dog Farm. Any business named after a dog is good in my book, and any story like Sumner’s is even better. Sumner and I have known each other since day one of college drop off at Wake Forest. See exhibit number 1 in all our early 90s glory (I’m the one with the round head and the round glasses):
Actually, Sumner was the second of three people who were supposed to be my roommate, but she dumped me, before meeting me mind you, for one of our other BFF’s Nicole simply because she was a fellow track team member. Well, if that saved me from rooming with two girls who left piles of sweaty track clothes on the floor and let cereal milk congeal in their bowls (I kid you not), it might have been all for the good. As it turns out, though, my third roommate, the one that took, was certifiably crazy. Luckily, the last three years of college were uneventful in the roommate department, but I digress.
Sumner went on to law school at UNC Chapel Hill, followed by a high-powered career as a corporate lawyer and then in-house counsel for a big telecommunications company. Turns out, like most lawyers I know, she hated her job and decided to move back to her native Asheville. She’s left law behind to grow flowers, make pressed flower beeswax candles and jewelry, and set up her big tent at the farmer’s market. Trust me, this ex corporate lawyer can make some damn fine beeswax candles and lanterns and that’s where YOU come in.
Sumner and I are banding together and offering a free beeswax lantern with pressed maidenhair fern to the winner of our “like us on facebook” drawing.
