Popping In

Wowzers ... has it really been that long since I've posted??? I guess that means I've been super busy. And you know what? I have! The time has flown by and here we are, nearly in December. And my calendar is no less filled, so I probably won't be posting much again until January.

To everyone who sent me such nice Thanksgiving wishes, thank you so very much. I hope your holiday was as lovely as mine!

My Thanksgiving was pretty easy, no stress for me, I basically just got to enjoy. My darling daughter always hosts at her house and does a spectacular, very Martha-ish, really wonderful job. Her house looks beautiful and the meal is delish. I always help with something though and this year she me assigned place cards, table runner, & dessert. Hey ... as long as I don't have to cook a turkey, I'm happy.

These are the place cards I made for the table. I used an old apothecary label design for everyone's names & glued that onto decorative paper with lace-punched edges & topped that with a little paper pumpkin that was fashioned out of circles of paper glued together in a 3-D effect.

Table runner in progress

A couple of weeks before Thanksgiving my daughter sent me a picture of a table runner she liked and asked if I thought I could make one like it. "Well, yeah, of course," I replied. Some burlap, corn husks, and a little time at the sewing machine and voilà ...

Here's how it all looked when finished ... the Thanksgiving table turned out pretty, no?

My daughter's meal was super scrumptious ... turkey, stuffing, goat cheese-mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, croissants with turkey-shaped butter, homemade cranberry relish — I'm sure I'm leaving out something. It ended with my pumpkin pies and apple galette (forgot to take a photo of that) & fresh whipped cream. Yummo.

About the Author

For 20 years, I was an antique dealer with an art background. Then I left that world and went back to art. So I guess you could say that now ... I'm an artist with a background in antiques. However you describe me, I like to create in many different mediums and I still get a thrill from anything with old peeling paint and the sparkle when light hits the old glass of chandelier crystals or the glint from a vintage rhinestone tiara, faded with time. Add in a dash of Paris for the Francophile in me and a little bit of Disneyland, for good measure (that place makes me happy), and there you have it ... me!
